想起John Irving

Robin Williams去世，鋪天蓋地的悼念文不時提及他演過的一部電影The World According to Garp。此片香港譯作阿甲晒命，顧名思義，似乎是部喜劇，其實不然，至少不盡然，就如我們以為Robin Williams是個funny guy一樣，一言難盡。

電影不怎麼出色，可John Irving的原著，是少數讓我震撼的現代小說。誠意推薦他於70年代中-80年代中創作高峰期寫成的三部小說：
- The World According to Garp
- The Hotel New Hampshire
- The Cider House Rules

John Irving腦子裡的東西非常複雜，雖非太艱澀深奧，但難以商業電影演繹。三部改編電影不看不損失。讀原著吧。
