the 40th anniversary of Piwnicy pod Baranami
The song Piotr, a Preisner composition, is a tribute to Piotr Skrzynecki, founder of the legendary cabaret Piwnica pod Baranami (Cellar under the Rams) in Krakow, Poland. (Piotr Skrzynecki is the guy in black hat and black coat in the video. The concert was held in 1996; Piotr died in the following year)
- Wikipedia: Piotr Skrzynecki | Piwnicy pod Baranami
[Piwnicy pod Baranami] became the most popular intellectual cabaret in postwar Poland, and one of the symbols of Kraków. Although it was not primarily a political humor group, coming in the wake of the liberalization of Polish October, the Piwnica cabaret became famous for its satirical criticism of the People's Republic of Poland communist regime. Polish magazine Przekrój wrote that "For 41 years [Skrzynecki] and his cabaret persuaded us that, despite the system, we had come into this world for happiness and joy.".
- Facets: The Music of Zbigniew Preisner
Considering his world-wide reputation, it comes as a surprise that Preisner never formally studied music. ... He taught himself music by buying records and then deconstructing the compositions, rewriting bits and pieces to compliment or enhance the original. ... Around 1977-78, he discovered the cabaret scene in Krakow and began composing music for the famous Piwnica pod Baranami (Cellar Under the Ram).

Another version of Piotr, from Preisner's 2001 album Glosy:
Funny that the only information in English I can find
about this album is from a Chinese website Douban/豆瓣: Głosy
(Głosy is a not-for-sale album. Piotr is also included in his 3-CD album Voices)
You want more?! Preisner the elephant sings:

Listen to one of my recent favourites - Konwalie, bzy albo pet - by a group of artists in Piwnicy pod Baranami (song #20 in the album Piwnica Pod Baranami Złota Kolekcja)
The voice of soprano Elzbieta Towarnicka, featured in many
Kieslowski-Preisner works, is easily recognisable

LOL! In response to this article, film buff and fellow Kieslowski fan Yoco said this was not the first time she watched/heard Preisner sing. Here's the proof.
