Yes, an iLink cable should solve the problem. iLink is more stable than USB and in some cases faster. Do you have enough disk space? It'll take you a big space in an order of gigabytes. VAIO notebook however may be too slow to do the job. I face that problem.
But it's fun, particularly when you play with the fade-in and out functions and etc, and add sound tracks to the file.

I am not ambitious. I shall try to walk first before I run. The VAIO notebook should therefore be fine for my learning phase.
